When’s the Best Time to Book Your Newborn Session?

Newborn Photography Tips from a Lifestyle Photographer in the Niagara Region

If you’re expecting and considering newborn photography, one of the first questions you might have is:
“When should I book my newborn session?”

The best time to book your newborn photoshoot is during your second trimester—typically between 20 and 28 weeks. Booking early ensures a guaranteed spot on my calendar, since I only take a limited number of newborn sessions each month to keep things calm and ensure a great experience for everyone.

When you book, I’ll pencil in your due date and leave room in my schedule for your session. Once baby arrives, just send me a quick message and we’ll choose a session date—usually between 7 and 14 days after birth—when your little one is still in that sleepy, snuggly phase.

I offer lifestyle newborn photography, which means these sessions are relaxed and natural. Whether we’re in your home or in my bright, cozy studio in St. Catharines, the focus is always on connection over perfection. No stiff posing or complicated setups—just real, heartfelt moments.

Already thinking about maternity photos too? I offer Bump to Baby Bundles that include both maternity and newborn sessions (plus digitals, priority booking, and savings), as well as a First Year Collection that documents every milestone from bump to first birthday.

If you’re in the Niagara Region and want beautiful, stress-free newborn photos, the best thing you can do is reach out early. Booking ahead gives you one less thing to worry about—and ensures your baby’s first days are captured with care.
